(Business in Cameroon) - Laurent Sakou, Regional Director – Central Africa at the German company Huesker, presented on 29 March in Yaoundé, at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, the option of using geo-synthetic materials for the construction of arterial roads in Cameroon.

“These are alternative options to reinforced concrete walls and which enable us to put up civil engineering structures with advantages at the technical, economic, ecological and speed of execution level”, explained Laurent Sakou. Still according to him, geo-synthetic technologies are highly flexible, and can generate savings of up to 70% over the cost of the project and 30% on lead times. The Huesker solution takes the physical appearance of layers which are slotted in between the different soil strata and which have “a very high resistance to traction to avoid deformations”, said Mr Laurent Sakou. Huesker provides a guarantee of 120 years on its structures.

Regarding the context of the presentation of these geo-synthetic options, the General Assessor in charge of technical issues at Minhdu, ali Salihou, indicated that through the signing on 20 April 2016 of a decree setting the conditions of use of innovative products in the construction, renovation and maintenance of roads, the Prime Minister opened the door to new technology sponsors.
