(Business in Cameroon) - At the last General Assembly of the Cameroonian subsidiary of the pan-African company, Ecobank Transnational, held on March 7, 2014 in Douala, three new directors, all Cameroonian nationals, joined the banking institution’s Board of Directors.

The new members include Ahmadou Ahidjo Sali, who has joined as an independent director after being the Finance and Administrative Director at Fonds national de l’Emploi (FNE), and at the now defunct Cameroon Sugar Company (Camsuco), a public sector company bought by the Vilgrain group. There is also Nicholas Achiri Asangwé who joins as an executive director. Mr Asangwé is a renowned banker who has worked at Commercial Bank of Cameroon (CBC), Standard Chartered Bank and Afriland First Bank.

The only woman among the new board members, Mathilde Evou Mekou is a non-executive director and former BICEC executive currently working at the Hydrocarbons Price Stabilisation Fund (SNH) where she acts as a technical advisor.

Ecobank Cameroun finished 2013 with much pomp and fanfare thanks to its net results amounting to 4 billion FCfa – a 143% increase relative to the previous year (1.6 billion FCfa).
