(Business in Cameroon) - The budget session of Cameroon’s parliament which is especially dedicated to the review and approval of the government budget for 2018 will start on November 14, 2017, in Yaoundé. This was announced by Cavaye Yéguié Djibril, president of the national assembly.

According to some reliable sources, the 2018 draft budget, which will be submitted for approval by parliamentarians, amounts to CFA4,513 billion.

This provisional budget is up by CFA140 billion compared to the budget of this fiscal year (CFA4373 billion).

The IMF in a recent press release revealed that Cameroon’s budget for 2018 should be characterized by a widening of the tax base and the revision of some taxes for an efficient collection. An example of this is the property tax that the government wants to couple with monthly electricity bills.
