(Business in Cameroon) - The agro-industrial company Sud Cameroun Hévéa plans to set up a processing unit by the year 2019, to enable local processing of hevea into rubber, we learned on 20 October 2016. This was during an agreement signing ceremony with the Ministry of Agriculture. By this partnership, we learn, the Cameroonian government commits to providing technical support to the agribusiness company. This means coaching rubber producers as well as supplying them with seedlings.

Sud Cameroun Hévéa is a business controlled by the Singapore group Sinochem International, through the company GMG International. The company has been in the process of extending its plantations, thanks to land concessions obtained in the South Cameroon region, specifically in the areas of Meyomessala, Meyomessi and Djoum. According to our sources, at least half of the 45,000 hectares of land available to Sud Cameroun Hévéa in these areas is initially affected by this extension project. According to forecasts, the entire 45,000 hectares is targeted to be planted by 2027.
