(Business in Cameroon) - The physical and chemical ingredients of the Jadida brand of soy oil manufactured by the Tunisia-based Medoil Company and imported into Cameroon by COPPEQ Sarl, are not in conformity with applicable standards in Cameroon which have been in effect since 2011. This is the claim made by the Cameroon Oil Refiners’ Association.

Presenting tests ordered by the Standards and Quality Agency (ANOR in French), and conducted on a sample of this vegetable oil by Paléologos Laboratories, the oil refiners allege that, in violation of standards in place, the manufacturer of “Jadida” makes no mention of the quantity of vitamin A present in its product and add that the amount of this vitamin is below the prescribed standard.

Recommended usage for this product suggests it be used for cooking and frying, but “this oil cannot be used for cooking and frying because, when its temperature rises, it becomes cancerous, endangering the health of consumers,” stated Jacquis Kemleu, one of the heads of the association’s heads.
