(Business in Cameroon) - As part of a new partnership aimed at increasing the revenues of populations living close to forests exploited in the Mbang region, in East Cameroon, the Rougier group and the international NGO WWF are currently working at structuring the trade of some non-ligneous forest products, we learned in an official communiqué published on 22 January 2016.
For the moment, the same source clarifies, two products are in the scope of this local development support project. These are, the wild mango and Djansang (photo), a condiment in the form of seeds highly sought by Cameroonian homemakers.
This project is a spin-off from the Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN), which is presented as "one of the key initiatives of WWF to promote good forest management and fair trade". The partnership reached on this occasion in 2015 between Rougier and WWF stretches to Congo and Gabon, particularly in terms of fight against poaching, local development and management and monitoring of the wildlife.
