(Business in Cameroon) - Minette Libom Li Likeng, Minister of Posts and Telecoms in Cameroon, announced on 11 October 2016 in Yaoundé, the capital of the country, that in 2017, the government will provide the Rehabilitated Blind Youth Club of Cameroon (CJARC) with a multimedia centre, in order to connect these visually-impaired people to ICT.

This structure, we are certain, will enable young visually-impaired people to have access to the information society which will change the 21st century in a sustainable way (...) We must transform the world and not leave anyone on the fringes, for the sustainable development of our country”, assures Minister Libom Li Likeng. The announced multimedia centre, we learned, will be supplied with equipment adapted to the specific needs of the users. Over a one year period, the training of the monitors of this structure, as well as its operating charges, will be fully paid by the State.

This Cameroonian government member was thus talking during the celebration of the International White Cane Day, in Cameroon with the theme: “White Cane: Tool for inclusion, access to employment, ICT to reach Sustainable Development Objectives (SDO)”.
