Cameroon: 100% of the material prejudices have been refunded, CAMRAIL said

(Business in Cameroon) - CAMRAIL and its insurer announced that they have refunded 100% of the material prejudices engendered during Eseka railway accident on October 21, 2016. In this accident, there were many material prejudices and 79 people died.

The public railway company whose managers were heard by Eseka court on February 14, 2018, said that by January 31, 2018, they had paid 98% of the social prejudices and 99% of the medical expenses. “Globally, 60% of the injured have been definitely compensated”, CAMRAIL revealed in an official statement.  

As far as compensation for the deceased’s families is concerned, CAMRAIL revealed that it has “received 72 cases. For now, 28 have been definitely resolved, 19 are being treated and two others are being finalized. In the same register, 20 other cases are actually being discussed and three are being compiled”
