(Business in Cameroon) - On October 31, 2014, from the hands of the Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon, Tsutomu Arai, the Cameroonian Minister of Basic Education, Youssouf Adjidja, received the keys to 202 classrooms built and equipped by the Japanese government as a part of the cooperation programme between both countries since 1997.
The Japanese diplomat indicated that, since its launch, the programme has enabled the construction of 1,533 classrooms in 122 primary schools across the country and 152 latrines for students and teachers. Ambassador Arai added that these contributions amounted to 52 billion FCFA.
Apart from the education sector, Japanese cooperation has also been visible in the agricultural sector, particularly in forest management and support for rice cultivation as well as SMEs.
