(Business in Cameroon) - On 13th August 2015 in Douala, the Cameroonian Minister of Local Government and Decentralisation, René Emmanuel Sadi, received a cargo of 99 containers full of food items provided to Cameroon by the Russian Federation to help the country face the influx of refugees (300,000 persons officially) fleeing Boko Haram’s attacks and insecurity in the Central African Republic.

The ceremony was held in the offices of Camrail, the Cameroonian rail company and subsidiary of the Bolloré Africa Logistics group which is responsible for sending the containers to four regions of Cameroon (Extreme-North, North, Adamaoua and East). According to Mohamed Diop, the group director for the Gulf of Guinea region “made the decision to support the government” of Cameroon “in the framework of its internal mutual efforts to face security concerns.”

René Emmanuel Sadi thanked the Russian Federation while specifying that, in the space of six months, this was the second gesture made by this country to help the Cameroonian people after the recent provision of various equipment to the Cameroonian defence forces in the fight against the Islamist sect Boko Haram.

Nikolay L. Ratsiborinskiy, the Russian Ambassador to Cameroon, seized the opportunity to announce that Cameroon will soon receive more support from the Russian Federation. This will involve training in civil protection and the promotion of renewable energy.
