(Business in Cameroon) - The regulation restructuring the Investment Promotion Agency (API), recently signed by the Cameroonian Head of State, gives more room for manoeuvre at the financial level to the managers of this organisation in charge of marketing Cameroon to investors.

In an interview with the pro-government daily, Marthe Angeline Mindja, MD of API, revealed that this reform now enables API to receive 15% of the resources from the Telecoms Fund (Fond de Télécoms) refilled on a yearly basis by telecoms operators, as well as 15% of the deductions taken by the Crédit Foncier (mortgage bank), the housing bank of the country.

With these funds, says Mrs Mindja, “we will be aggressive and carry out promotion activities worthy of our country, increase the flow of investors in Cameroon”.

According to her, in the framework of the 2013 law on promoting private investment in Cameroon, the Cameroonian government and economic operators have signed, to date, no less than 137 agreements, for a global investment estimated at FCfa 2,322 billion.
