CAMTEL to find an agreement with CNPS as far as its debt is concerned

(Business in Cameroon) - On May 7, 2018, David Nkotto Emane, director of Cameroon Mobile Telecommunications (Camtel) visited his peer of CNPS, Alain Noël Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame. During the visit, CAMTEL presented its new innovations which optimize the use of its communication platforms. In addition, according to credible sources, the two managers exchanged on ways for Camtel to pay its debts to CNPS.

Let’s note that there was not much communication around the discussions, so, if an agreement is met, it would be about the CFA7 billion of social contribution debts that could be canceled in favor of CAMTEL. This will also be a sign of peace between those two public institutions because in October 2016, the managing director chose to forcefully collect the social contributions owed by public and private institutions by launching a campaign in that regard. Debtors like CAMTEL were then invited to pay their dues in order to avoid legal actions.
