(Business in Cameroon) - The economic memo -Tableau de bord- issued January 17 by Cameroon’s inter employers group (Gicam) presented the evolution in economic businesses in the third quarter of 2018 according to opinions expressed by business leaders.

The document showed that between the second and the third quarter, 50% of companies said there was a slowdown in Cameroon. The tax burden continues to worry business leaders, as the document specified “58% of them (business leaders) say they suffered higher fiscal burden in the third quarter compared to the second one”.

The document indicated, the tax burden would grow according to 67% of companies surveyed. “There is still a strong tendency towards an increase in tax burden. As regards cash flow, 52% of companies forecast a deterioration at the end of the year. The number of employees would remain stable for half (51%) of the companies,” the document concludes.
