(Business in Cameroon) - On September 5, Cameroonian authorities paid compensation to a new wave of people living along the Yaoundé-Nsimalen Highway, currently under construction on the “open country” section, in the Centre region.

As part of this payment operation, which is now at third phase, about CFA1.4 billion were paid to 179 people, we learnt. The move is seen as a good omen for work progress on this highway which is set to serve Yaoundé international airport. In recent months work was slowed as the residents refused to free the rights-of-way because they received no compensation. Now, from the date of payment, residents have been given 15 days to vacate.
