(Business in Cameroon) - During the previous cotton campaign in Cameroon, the product was exported from Cameroon to Turkey for the first time. This was revealed by Hüsnü Murat Ülkü, the Turkish ambassador to Cameroon.

“For the first time, Cameroon’s cotton was sold in Turkey. Our importers think that the country’s cotton is very good and they should also seek opportunities to produce in the exporting country”, the Turkish diplomat said. However, “the volume of exchanges does not always reflect the potential” he deplored.

Hüsnü Murat Ülkü is however positive that the economic cooperation between Cameroon and Turkey will advance in the coming years. “We are pleased to notice that Cameroonian authorities already have highly positive perceptions of our companies”, he said.

The diplomat pointed to the construction of Japoma stadium, which is being built by the Turkish company Yenigun, as a sign of the trust Cameroonian authorities have in Turkish companies. According to him, the stadium is “the first ‘’méga-projet’’ which will be finalized by a Turkish company with the financial support of Eximbank Turkey. It will be a friendship arch between the two countries which will broaden the horizons for our cooperation”.
