(Business in Cameroon) - Eneo Cameroon, the electricity distribution company, informed that the electricity supply is actually disturbed in the southern interconnected grid

Kribi’s gas power plant being partially unavailable, our actual capacity cannot meet the demand. So, some areas connected to the interconnected grid could experience temporary interruptions in electricity supply from two to three hours”, the company informed. It did not indicate either the expected ending date of the disruption or the cause of the disruption.

However, according to the development projects’ monitoring committee of the Ministry of Finance, since its opening on May, 18,2013, the maximum power generated is 118MW out of 216MW of installed capacity.

According to Kribi Power Development Corporation (KPDC), the company managing the power plant, the demand is always increasing so, all it takes is for a machine to break down and the network is disrupted. Due to this, since 2016, KPDC has been negotiating the extension of the generating capacity from 216 MW to 330MW.
