(Business in Cameroon) - Nachtigal Dam (400 MW) which will be built on Sanaga river is an excellent opportunity for Cameroon. This is at least what Elisabeth Huybens (photo), sectoral manager of social development for World Bank in Cameroon, says.

During a press conference in Yaoundé earlier this February, she said: “Nachtigal Dam is an incredibly useful project. It is a significant project which will help increase the electricity generating capacity by 30% at low production cost: 7 cents per kWh ( a little more than CFA35). Presently, the average production cost is 14 cents (about CFA70)”, Intégration reported.

For the record, the construction of Nachtigal dam is steered by EDF, the International Finance Corporation and Cameroon. It requires CFA656 billion and it is planned to be commissioned in 2021.
