(Business in Cameroon) - Cameroon’s gas production increased by 90.2% to stand at 233.9 million m3 in January-April 2018. According to SNH which revealed the information, this increase is the result of the floating LNG produced by Hilli Episeyo which started operations in March 2018.

Accosted offshore Kribi, the floating LNG has already produced 99,445 m3 of natural liquefied gas as of April 30, 2018. According to good sources, 40,000 m3 of that gas has been exported to China. During the same period, 1,281 m3 of domestic gas was supplied to the local market thanks to Hilli Episeyo.

Let’s remind that the floating LNG project, steered by SNH, Perenco and Golar LNG, is aimed at producing natural liquefied gas while awaiting the construction of a foot plant in Kribi where the West African largest port is located.  It is also worth noting that Cameroon is the second country to use a floating LNG in the world (the Brazilian oil and gas company Petronas being the first to implement such technology in Malaysia).
