(Business in Cameroon) - On Friday September 13th, former state employees will receive the first part of their lay off settlements, a statement from the Minister of Finance (Minfi) said on Tuesday September 10, 2013.

Thousands of these former workers stormed the identification site, the first step, under the control of the autonomous Sinking Fund (CAA).

National identity card, recruitment letter, letter of dismissal for economic reasons, Insurance book from the National Social Insurance Fund, CNPS and others, are some of the documents the former employees need to provide, the statement said.

Officials of the Legal Affairs Division in Minfi were deployed to the site to check the documents. At the multipurpose sports complex, the identification site, there are 15 posts to attend to the former employees.

48 state companies were closed because of economic crisis that hit Cameroon in the 1980s. About 22,572 persons are on the waiting list.
