(Business in Cameroon) - On September 29, 2017, the mining code project was officially transmitted to CEMAC in Yaoundé, Cameroon's capital, credible sources revealed. The project after its validation by the governing bodies of CEMAC will be applicable in Cameroon, Congo, and Gabon, in Central Africa, Chad, and Equatorial Guinea.

There are consistent mineral deposits throughout Central African territories. If we want to profit from this treasure, we must streamline the process, in terms of exploitation, ownership and transport of mining assets between neighboring countries,” Jean Eudes Teya, CEMAC's delegate at the submission's ceremony, commented.

The communal mining code of CEMAC's countries was discussed for the first time in 2012 and, it started being written in 2016 thanks to German development agency, GIZ.

A community code is customized to the sub-region's challenges and, most importantly, to international standards related to transparency, environmental protection and to social vision,” Hans-Dieter Stell, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cameroon pointed out.
