(Business in Cameroon) - Germany has announced her intentions to step up the development assistance to the government of Cameroon in the next three years.

Renate Von Boddien, Director of Central Africa, West Africa and Madagascar in Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, has announced that her country’s aid to Cameroon will move from 151.7 million Euros ( about 99.5 billion F) between the 2011-2013 period to 168.3 million Euros, (about 110.4 billion F) between the 2014-2016 period.

Cameroon Tribune quotes the Ambassador of Germany in Cameroon, Klaus-Ludwig Kefferstein, as saying that his country is seeking to contribute to Cameroon’s Growth and Employment Strategy Paper. It is said that the increase in the aid is as a result of Cameroon’s “good behavior” in decentralization, management of public finances and reduction of maternal mortality.

The two governments have been discussing the modalities for the new aid in a workshop in Yaounde.
