Unemployment Reduces in Cameroon

(Business in Cameroon) - Records from the National Institute of Statistics show that unemployment in Cameroon has dropped over the years.

According to a report of a study the institute carried out recently, unemployment moved from 4.4 percent in 2005 to 3.8 per cent in 2010. Underemployment within the same period also moved from 75.8 percent to 70.6 per cent, representing a reduction of 5.2 points.

The report underlines that over 80 unemployed youth use informal means to get jobs. 40.2 percent use their relations to get jobs while 21.2 percent actually go in search of the jobs from employers.
