(Business in Cameroon) - Cameroon is a good investment opportunity for LNG projects, according to Vagit Alekperov (photo), president of leading Russian oil company Lukoil. He indicated this during the annual meeting of shareholders on June 20, 2019. Lukoil indicated that it wanted to develop a strong gas asset that will help produce LNG.
This announcement falls within the framework of Lukoil’s new expansion strategy that plans for increased investments in Africa, where many basins are under-exploited, and to take advantage of the booming LNG market.
Congo is the second targetted country. In the central African country, Lukoil recently signed an $800 million agreement with New Age for the acquisition of 25% stake in the Marine XII permit.
Recently, sources close to the company indicated that it was preparing large projects in Ghana and Nigeria. In Ghana, for instance, it is present in the DW/CTP permit where only crude oil has been discovered to date.
