(Business in Cameroon) - Last year, Cameroon shipped a total of 19,000 tons of wood veneers towards the European Union (EU), up 28% from 2017, the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) revealed.
According to the organization, this is the highest increase in all tropical wood veneer exports to the EU over the period.
Higher volumes were also observed in Côte d'Ivoire (+14% to 30,700 tons) and Congo (+15 to 11,100 tons), ITTO said. Bad news came from Ghana, where wood veneer shipments dropped 10% to 5,000 tons, Equatorial Guinea (-2% to 4,400 tons) and Indonesia (-18% to 2,600 tons). Gabon, which however is a major supplier to EU, also saw its sales to the region decline over the period reviewed.
